On the first day our two young founders attended the opening ceremonies and even gave a full presentation to the entire student body along with faculty and staff. The main message they have for the students is to show everyone that “Anybody Can Make A Difference”.
Northwood Elementary Hosts OMG Plastic & Recycling Awareness Week
We were very excited last month when the over 700 students at Northwood Elementary school in Roswell GA participated in our week-long Plastic and Recycling Awareness Curriculum!
Plastic Awareness Coalition
Did you know that over 1-million birds and over 100,000 marine animals die each year from ingesting plastic. Sea Turtles and Sea Birds often mistake plastic bags floating in the oceans and on the beaches as jellyfish and end up dying from eating them. When we learned these facts and many more, we decided to launch our “Plastic Awareness Coalition”.

As you know, OMG is committed to helping to educate communities across the country about the issue of Plastic Pollution so we can start cleaning up our environment for humans and animals alike.
Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia 2012 Annual Conference
Carter and Olivia were recently invited to present their Plastic Awareness Week curriculum program at 2012 Environmental Education Alliance (EEA) of Georgia Annual Conference. The EEA of Georgia has been serving environmental educators throughout Georgia since 1992.
OMG Founders Speak at the 2012 Caring for Creation Conference
The event offered over 20 workshops on topics such as “A Biblical Theological Foundation for Creation Care” to “Faith Principles of Creation Care” and, of course, our specialty “Environmental Stewardship”.

OMG Attends the Georgia Science Teachers Association 2012 Conference
Olivia and Carter were recently invited to conduct a workshop about their Plastic Awareness Week curriculum program for the attendees at the 2012 Georgia Science Teachers Association Conference held at the Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta GA.
Connecticut 7th Grader Wins Grand Prize in Youth Social Website Rocket21 & Captain Planet Foundation Dream Green Contest
Additionally, 10 year old Georgia Student Carter Ries and his sister Olivia were selected as Second Place Winners, recognized for a Plastic Awareness Week school curriculum they developed together. Both students are excited to be guests at the Atlanta event. Nine year-old Olivia noted, “This is my first ever Gala … it’s a once in a lifetime thing!” Carter added, “I’m so excited to meet the winner! I’m hoping that I meet some famous people too!”

All of the Season 10 American Idol Top 11 have generously donated their time and efforts to the REFUSE campaign – a global strategic initiative aimed at inspiring people to end their dependence on disposable plastic.
SKA Academy of Art and Design’s Plastic Awareness Program
Recently we had the opportunity to present our program “Plastic Awareness Week” program to the extremely talented students from the SKA Academy of Art and Design school in Duluth GA. Co-founder of the school Dr. Leng Chee Chang (who is a Graduated with Ph.D. Degree in Pharmacognosy from University of Illinois at Chicago) heard about our program and invited Olivia and Carter to come and teach to several of their classes over the course of several weeks.
EEA Outdoor Learning Symposium
The 15th annual Outdoor Learning Symposium was held Friday, October 21, 2011, at Georgia Perimeter College: Decatur Campus. This year’s theme, “Leaving Footprints : Natural Paths to Learning”, evolved from many different modes and methods of Outdoor Learning. It truly refers to leaving lasting impressions or “footprints” in the minds of students and using the natural world as a path to accomplishing the many standards and concepts that must be taught and learned along the way. OMG was invited to feature our “Plastic Awareness Week” curriculum program to the many teachers and educators in attendance.
‘Plastic Awareness Education’ at Cochran Mill Summer Camp
The kids were all so intently listening to Carter and Olivia and each one of them had suggestions of what could be done to ensure this doesn’t continue to happen. We heard many of the students say that they would be telling their parents, and even their school teachers about what our plastic pollution is doing to the environment and how they wanted to help be the solution to the problem.
